Nominations for the 25th National Statistics Month (NSM) Awards Now Open


The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in behalf of the Steering Committee of the 26th National Statistics Month (NSM) and 2nd World Statistics Day (WSD), is now accepting entries and nominations for the various categories of the 25th NSM Awards with the theme, “NSM at 25 and Beyond: Solid and Responsive Philippine Statistical System in Support of Globalization and Regional Economic Integration”. All agencies of the government, local government units, academic institutions, state universities and colleges, government-owned and controlled corporations, youth organizations and the private sector at the national and subnational levels are encouraged to submit entries to the NSM Secretariat on or before 1 July 2015.

PSAI Training for CY 2015


The Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. (PSAI) is pleased to announce the initial course offering for institutional and non-institutional members of a 3-day module on Data Analysis and Modeling Using R Statistical Software. The course shall be conducted on July 20-22, 2015 at the Rizal Conference Room, Philippine Statistical Research and Training Center, J&S Building, Kalayaan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. Topics covered shall include Data Analysis and Modeling with R: How to Prepare Data Bases for Entry into R Environment; Exploratory Data Analysis with GUI R Commander; Multivariate Data Analysis and Data Mining with Rattle GUI. The topics will be discussed using a combination of lectures (in the morning) and hands-on computing workshops (in the afternoon). The R Statistical Software will be used during hands-on exercises and participants are enjoined to bring their own laptop.

PSAI Annual Conference 2015 Theme: Advancing Statistics for the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda

The Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. (PSAI) will hold the 2015 PSAI Annual Conference on 23 - 25 September 2015 in Ilocos Norte with the theme: Advancing Statistics for the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda. The Conference is an annual gathering that promotes scholarly discussion on urgent and relevant issues that need to be addressed by the statistical community.

We are now into the final deadline of the 2015 progress in monitoring the Millennium Development Goals. Parallel efforts have also been made by the global community to initiate thinking and work on the post-2015 sustainable development agenda. The Philippines, as one of the countries signatory to the MDGs and the unfinished agenda, has been actively involved in all these efforts.

The 60th ISI World Statistics Congress (WSC) in Rio de Janeiro is just a little more than three months away. The deadline for early bird registration is April 24, so please make sure to register this week to get the discounted rates.
