PSAI Annual Conference 2015 Theme: Advancing Statistics for the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda

The Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. (PSAI) will hold the 2015 PSAI Annual Conference on 23 - 25 September 2015 in Ilocos Norte with the theme: Advancing Statistics for the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda. The Conference is an annual gathering that promotes scholarly discussion on urgent and relevant issues that need to be addressed by the statistical community.

We are now into the final deadline of the 2015 progress in monitoring the Millennium Development Goals. Parallel efforts have also been made by the global community to initiate thinking and work on the post-2015 sustainable development agenda. The Philippines, as one of the countries signatory to the MDGs and the unfinished agenda, has been actively involved in all these efforts.

The 60th ISI World Statistics Congress (WSC) in Rio de Janeiro is just a little more than three months away. The deadline for early bird registration is April 24, so please make sure to register this week to get the discounted rates.

Sustainable goals: From the MDGs to the SDGs


The Philippines should join the UK and Japan in calling for a more focused development agenda. Otherwise, we may not able to prioritize actions to ensure that 'no one is left behind.'

This September, leaders from across the world will gather at the United Nations (UN) to put forward a new development agenda called the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the successor to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The SDGs put forward a shared vision of where we want to see the world to be in 2030, in terms of economic, social, environmental, and governance conditions, with statistics to be produced by member states in 2015 to serve as baselines for monitoring progress.

Call for Nominations to the 2015 PSAI Awards


Nominations to the 2015 PSAI Lifetime Achievement Award and PSAI Outstanding Service Award are now being accepted by the PSAI Search and Awards Committee. Deadline of submission of nominations is on 30 September 2015. Nominations may be sent either to the PSAI office (Room 214, Room 214, Philippine Social Science Center Bldg., Commonwealth Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City 1101) or through email to psai.sec@gmail.com and wtan@bsp.gov.ph. The awards will be presented at the PSAI Annual meeting and Christmas party on December 2015.

Attached are the nomination forms which contain the procedure of selection of awardees and qualifications of nominees.
