The Philippine Statistical Association- Central Visayas Chapter (PSA-CV) was formally organized on December 22, 2005 in Ceby City. With an initial membership of 18 members, the chapter has now a total membership of 32 compromising college statistics teachers, researchers and academic statisticians in colleges and universities of Cebu City and Bohol province.

The organization of the PSA-CV Chapter was initiated earlier in May 2005 when Dr. Zita VJ Albacea, Vice President of PSA (2006), came to Cebu in behalf of former President, Dr. Jose Ramon G. Albert upom the invitation of Dr. Reston. In the seminar on teaching undergraduate statistics sponsored by the College of Education of the University of San Carlos, Dr. Albacea talked about Sampling and Sample Size Determination and introduced the PSA to the partcipants who were statistics teachers in Central Visayas. The response was positive among many participants and this led to the organization of the Central Visayas Chapter of PSA.
