Conference Theme: Migration and Remittances: Their Role in Philippine Development
The Program Committee is issuing a call for papers related to the conference theme as well as other papers on a wide range of statistical issues. Relevant academic and policy papers are welcome. Possible topics for the papers include, but are not limited to, the following:
A. Possible Topics for Thematic Sessions
1. Economic Consequences of Remittances
2. Social Impact of Migration
3. Statistical issues related to measuring remittances
4. Advocacy related to Migration and Remittances
B. Possible Topics for General Sessions
1. Computational Methods in Statistics
2. Time Series Analysis
3. Econometrics
4. Survival Analysis
5. Market Research
6. Small Area Estimation
7. Financial Risk Management
8. Teaching Statistics
9. Biostatistics
Authors who wish to present a paper at the PSA Annual Conference should submit an abstract of the proposed paper not exceeding 300 words to the Program Committee, chaired by Dr. Dennis S. Mapa of the School of Statistics, University of the Philippines Diliman. Participating papers with more than one authors, should clearly designate a corresponding author. Up to three possible sessions for participation must be indicated at the bottom of the abstract. Abstracts should be submitted by email in MS-Word format using English Language Times Roman font to the Program Committee at the following address by 15 July 2010:

In addition to individual paper writers, we also welcome session organizers. Session organizers are responsible for providing a title and description of the scope of their session, inviting speakers and discussants to participate. The deadline for submission of the scope and list of participants is 15 July 2010.
The Program Committee will use abstracts of the participating papers to evaluate applications for presentation at the conference. Evaluation of abstracts will be based primarily on the quality of the statistical analysis that abstracts indicate the paper will contain, and secondarily on appropriateness of the proposed paper for the conference. Authors will be informed of the results of the evaluation by 30 July 2010. The Committee will select Sessions Organizers based on the scope and list of participants. The decision will also be made on 30 July 2010. The deadline for submission of full papers selected for presentation is 1 September 2010. Detailed instructions will be given to the authors whose papers have been chosen for the conference. Papers must follow the style and format used in the Philippine Statistician and should not exceed 35 A4-sized pages using 12 point font. Papers should be submitted by email in MS-Word format using English Language Times Roman fonts to the Program Committee at the above address.
